The largest of the English lakes.Located in the south of the Lake District The town of Bowness-on-Windermere situated is on its shores, roughly midway to the east of the lake. The lovely town of Ambleside is a favourite place for travellers to Windermere. An amazingly popular place to visit for walkers and catered for by the vast array of shops and restaurants.
To the west of Lake Windermere we are then into Beatrix Potter country with the villages of Near and Far Sawrey. Beatrix Potters home at Hilltop is now owned by The National Trust.
